Rally Reader works with iPads and iPhones running iOS 14 or above.
Is wifi needed to use Rally Reader?
Wifi is needed to download or preview a book, a process that takes roughly one minute. After that, readers do not need wifi to read on the Rally Reader app.
What books are available on Rally reader?
Rally Reader partners with major publishers to offer a wide variety of books. We currently have over 50,000 popular books on offer and this number grows every week as our library expands!

The Rally Reader app is free to download and use, users just have to pay for the books they want to read. Just like the book store, book prices are set by the publishers, but most books cost $5 to $15 USD.
Books purchased through Rally Reader are automatically shared across family accounts, so all members of the family can read them across their multiple devices.

What happens if a reader skips or reads a word incorrectly?
When a student skips a word or makes an error, Rally indicates the skipped or misread word by shaking it. Students can reread the word again, or have it read aloud to them. Misread words that were not self-corrected are added to the student’s Trip Words. Students can access their personalized trip words in their dashboard and practice anytime!
What statistics does Rally Reader measure?
Daily goal: The number of minutes a reader wants to read each day, and how close they are to that goal.
Streak: The number of days in a row a reader has met their reading goal.
Persistence: The percentage of time a reader reread a word that they initially got wrong.
Accuracy: The percentage of words a reader correctly reads, on their first, second or third try.
Words per minute: The average number of words a reader correctly reads per minute.Is any data stored on Rally Reader when a child reads out loud?
By default, Rally Reader does not record audio during reading sessions. If a parent or teacher wishes to hear a child read, they can enable the recording feature by navigating to the app’s settings and selecting “Record Book Reading.”
Do I have to read out loud to use Rally Reader?
No, reading out loud is not required to use Rally Reader. Readers can use “silent reading mode” if they prefer. However, we encourage reading out loud because it allows the app to track every word read and provide real-time feedback, which can significantly improve reading skills.
I noticed that Rally Reader didn’t catch an error made while reading aloud. Is that normal?
Yes, that can happen! Rally Reader is always striving to improve and be a valuable resource for children, teachers, and families. Currently, Rally catches about 75-80% of errors made, which represents the majority of errors that would typically be missed during independent reading.
